About Us

Small by Design

Owner Brian Boehnen has been in the field of natural stone and quartz fabrication, design, and installation for more than 21 years.

Brian opened Midwest Rock Tops in 2010 to give Southern Wisconsin residents an opportunity to bring the lasting elegance of granite, marble, and quartz into their homes – at affordable prices and from an experienced team that’s focused on customer service.

Our company is small by design, which enables us to give personalized service to our clients.

Selecting Colors

We have a wide array of large samples and slabs to choose from in our showroom, or if you have a photo of a specific stone pattern in a magazine or on an online home décor site, we’ll find it for you.

Templating

We come to your home to make a detailed template of your countertops.

Viewing & Laying Out

Before we start your project, you’re invited to view the slabs and even help lay out your template to ensure we’re using your favorite parts of the stone.

In-House Fabrication

The fabrication is done by our experienced employees at our Madison, WI, location, not by subcontractors.

Installation

Since our templating process is so detailed, all cutting, drilling, and scribing is done in our shop. The average installation takes about 3 hours.

Sealing

We include a 15-year warranty sealer on all granite, making your countertops maintenance-free and stain-resistant.

How to Prepare Your Kitchen for Countertop Installation

Template Creation:

  • On new construction, the base cabinets must be permanently anchored in place before a template can be made.
  • On a remodel project or countertop replacement, in most cases, existing tops do not need to be removed prior to measurement.
  • Any sinks, faucets, cook tops, or any other item that requires a cutout or a hole in the top must be readily available at the time the template is made. The fabricator may need to take some items with him to complete the fabrication.
  • We are not responsible for connecting or moving dishwashers, cook tops, or plumbing to get our measurements.
  • No changes can be made once the template is created. All cuts are final; it is impossible to re-attach a piece of granite that has been cut from the slab. Additionally, once the granite is glued in place on the cabinets, moving it is very difficult and the risk of damage is high.

Countertop Installation:

  • Please note that any delay in acquiring the accessories may delay the installation.
  • The old countertops and any appliances, like cook tops or sinks, that are in the way of the installers must be disconnected and moved out of the kitchen.
  • Our installers are not certified plumbers or electricians, so for your safety, they are not allowed to disconnect or reconnect appliances or sinks. Most under mount sinks will be installed (attached to the countertop) for you, but we will not connect the plumbing or faucets.
